**This tour meets at the Custom House and does not depart from the Holiday Inn. The Custom House is less than a 15 minute walk from the Holiday Inn; downhill going and small uphill on the way back. Attendees may also request transport via the hotel shuttle.**With its magnificent architecture in the heart of a bustling seaport, The Custom House was recently restored to its 1872 glory. The building has been closed to the public since 2001 except through this special 30 minute guided tour. Come see the space a young United States of America created to impress merchants from abroad as they came into Portland, one of the country's biggest, busiest and vital harbors at the time.
Requirements: All activities and meals are provided free of charge, including ground transportation. It is the participant’s responsibility to book flights accordingly to be ready to start the tour with the group. Transportation to Portland, Maine is not included. Participants should be able to walk, taste, relax, and smile (especially when sharing your experience). Participants should be in good health and advise organizers of any disabilities, medical conditions, food allergies, or physical limitations.
